The Holland Project

The Holland Project incorporated as a 501c3 charitable corporation in April of 2010. We launched our first Saturday farm program for teens with Autism and other disabilities at the MSPCA Nevins Farm in Methuen, MA in May 2010. Read the MSPCA's article about the event.

Our pilot farm program was designed as a 6 week Saturday program. 6-8 teens with autism and developmental delays came to a farm based animal shelter to spend time along with peer group volunteers and experience all that happens on a farm setting. There were chores, one on one time with the animals and working side by side with volunteer buddy. The goal was to meet each teen where they were on a particular day and allow them to explore and experience at their own pace.

Since then our farm program continues each fall and spring and we have expanded our programs to offer caregiver meditation classes, a creative arts program for teens and are adding a supportive care program for cancer patients.  Healing begins when you connect with nature.

On August 8, 2014 we finally moved to our new farm.  It's a beautiful 12 acre farm in Merrimac, MA.  Come meet our horses, sheep, dogs, chickens and therapy pig Cosmo.

Contact us for information about our programs or to volunteer.
